I hope this is the proper place to post this. If not forgive me. I am making a brand new, shiny, neighborhood after my old one when kaboom. The sims living here are my custom, various MATYers, the usual pleasentview townies, and Sim State Uni. Still deciding if I want the downtown in or not, Bluewater is no way. What I need is some great name ideas for this interesting place (called Driftwood right now) Oh, the MATYers will invade Sim State, take over the greek houses etc. Story will be*hopefully* be out on Livejournal someday.

Back from the dead ...
|
I just started a new neighbourhood and I've called it Reality, as I intend playing it as true-to-life as possible. Everyone will have to work for what they want (no hand-outs, no kaching/motherlode, no pleading with the Reaper except in extreme cases and definiitely no teleporting in of Sims to do it) ... I'm using various JM mods such as expensive npcs (so only the rich can afford them), the one that charges for private school, the harder jobs one ... also using the Landlord/Tenant mod, although my Sims are buying their houses rather than renting. I'll probably introduce a few gypsy types lately in trailers or something who will just rent.
It's actually very hard work playing like this, takes me back to the very beginning before all the mods came out. Some of my poor babies are having to sell things to buy things, it's just not fair. Most of them have never even seen a piano, let alone played one. They must be really ACHING to move across the water to Pleasantview ... but they ain't going!

I like the name -StormHaven- because it sounds so soap opera-ish. I've used -Route66- or -Lost Highway- on a flat terrain with long straight roads. -Missing Mile- is the name of a small town in some of my favorite books.

I don't recognize Hydrox. I know that all but one, if not all of them, are from H*R.
Edit: If I'm wrong, I'm not sure I want to just randomly guess. You stumped me.

I like to pick a theme or a concept for the 'hood first. That usually suggests a name, or at least narrows down the possibilities. Then I get street names, and sometimes family names, from the theme, too. My current 'hood is based on small towns from the area where I grew up.

Ok I finally named the hood. Ready? Roswell Point and laugh if you must, but I like it since strange things have been occuring already lol. Dr. Beast's Paranoia came very close, but after one of my families got abducted! Well.....
