What's this?

Well, it's every icon used in The Sims 2 + all EPs.

They are .png files with TRANSPARENT backgrounds, so they are perfect for using for custom careers, to add effects to pictures in your stories, and even to build a website with.

There are some duplicates in here because I am feeling very lazy right now and don't feel like weeding them out. There's more than 700 files.

Why upload this, when everyone has access to these? Can't anyone just open SimPE and....

Sure. One of the files these icons came from has over 3000 images. WITH NO NAMES. And less than half are actually usable images. I had to click each one, one at a time, to find all the icons. So, yes, anyone can do it, but hey, I already did, so why not make it easy for the rest of you guys?

Note: This does not include huge transparent images that say "Sims 2" and "Sims 2 University" and stuff like that, because I think they were given to us in those "website kits" that Maxis made available... but if that's not so, I can upload them too.

About 220 icons are included but there may be a few duplicates or icons that came with previous EPs. Sorry, it was just hard to tell what's new, because Maxis puts a copy of every old icon into the files of every new EP.

With all the downloads I have, there are so many building, paintings, plants, and such lost in the "misc" decor section.

This is going to make it AWESOME and EASY to create custom icons and create custom 'collections' to organize those plants in the decor section, curtains in the decor section, and so on.

This is really cool!  There's some icons in there that don't look familiar at all to me.  One interesting file I found is called uieffects-headlines-conversationbirdbee010_lifo_1024x64.png .  It has some gender symbols and a picture of a baby.  conversationbirdbee, huh?

There was actually something entitled "The Talk", but it appears to have been removed from the game, possibly because I had a toddler talking about "Woohoo" already.

Open SimPE.
Go to File > Open In
Choose a directory.
Most of the files with images in them are in the Sims3D, 3D, Objects, and UI folders. Open a file.
On the left, select jpg/tga/png Images.
Go through the entries one at a time.
When you find something you like, click the Export button in the middle of the screen on the right side, and save it.

If you tell me what you're looking for, I might be able to tell you where it's likely to be located. Unfortunately Maxis has no sense of organization, so stuff is spread out all over the place.

The best stuff is hidden in the UI files. But those files are also the biggest pain to browse, since there are thousands of images that are basically nothing... just bits of the game ui and popup boxes and stuff like that.

When you have to browse quickly, my tip/trick is to highlight one entry and then repeatedly hit the down arrow. You can scroll through them pretty quickly that way. Beats clicking with the mouse on each entry.

I already extracted all of those. They're the files named uieffects-headlines.

They're in the Sims3D directory, inside the Objects09 file, in the base game directory. They're under Large Image File (LIFO) rather than jpg/tga/png Images. I think there might be a few more in other files, but I don't have the exact locations written down. Luckily, all talk bubble type things ARE labeled, So just open all the Objects## files and sort the LIFOs by name, and look for uieffects.
