Handheld goes *poof* at grow-up?

When the kids grow up to teens their handhelds disappear from inventory (and replaced by the renuyu stuff).  I'd never noticed this till the other day - is this a bug or intentional?  Or have I screwed something up (again)?

Dunno, but it's easy enough to replace them.

But I noticed a new memory in SimPE today - something like "Don't mess with married sims!. (Daniel Pleasant got it.)

Kids aren't supposed to be able to use handhelds, only teens and up. They shouldn't be able to have them in their inventories either as they can't pick them up.

You are probably using that mod by SimmySimSim… it is still in testing for a reason.

Nope, no mod.  I just put the handhelds from their dad's inventory into theirs.

They can have handhelds if a teen gives them one.  I've also had a teen autonomously give an MP3 player to their uncle, which I thought was cute!  the only one you can't give a kid is the mobile phone.

No Icon!  But not invisible either.

Or a mobile!  So confusing.....  But it's why the best way of giving them stuff if you don't want a lot of bother is TJs electronics tree, since you can also take it away from them again!
