My Servo Can't Go Walkabout

I have no idea why, but whenever my Servo goes walkabout he generates an error and I have to delete him.  This means he can't socialise except on his home lot, which is a pity because I've never seen him interact on another lot.  I've checked his memories and there's nothing there that could be causing it, so I'm attaching an error log in case anyone can work out what's wrong with him.

Are you sure it didn't sneak in somehow? It's possible another hack that messes with the same areas could do the same thing. What hacks do you have?

No, I definitely don't have it, I've checked.  I can't see why a hack would affect just the robot walkby anyway.  I'll go through them and see if anything looks iffy, but with it only affecting the one Sim I'm not sure where to start.  If I can't get anywhere I'll post a list (but it will be long!).

Well less whiny I think checks the motives of sims on a lot to stifle their complaining. It seemed to be looking for a motive on servos and not finding it (the old version with the servo bug). My guess is it was looking for energy, but they don't have energy they have power. Since the servos are missing the energy motive basically anything that watches or alters motives or sims reactions to motive levels could be the culprit. Could be the Please Yourself Plant maybe? I'm trying to think what else is out there that might do it.

The first time it happened was on a business lot, which is owned by a friend of Servo.  He tried twice to visit, but each time I had to delete him.  That lot does have a PY plant.  However, the second and third time he was the walkby on a normal residential lot, neither of which have anything like that on them.  I just hope this isn't going to happen with all Servos (because they have no energy), but in the absence of anyone else confirming it's happened to them, I don't know.  I suppose I'm going to have to remove my hacks folder and see whether it makes a difference.

I would try that yes. When I had a similar problem I was the first one to note it and ended up having to narrow everything down one by one until I got to less whiny. I definitely didn't have the problem when no hacks were run though and I suspect the same for you. For me, it would happen everytime servo appeared on a lot that wasn't his, so if he was a guest or a walkby or shopper, but if I played his lot and controlled him he was just fine, same thing if I made him selectable.

I'm having the same problem with the servo.  Whenever one would show up on a lot you could not interact with them.  In addition to this I had a Servo purchase a business and when he was there, the cashier was unable to process a transaction.  The sim working the register was a controllable sim and there was no "ring up this costomer" option even though the costomer was clearly ready for action and eventually got pissed and stomped off. 

I just took out the Directors Cut version of Lesswhiney and I'll see if that did any good and report back in a few.

Heh has an updated version in the OFB directory. I guess he didn't update the one in the directors cut but I can confirm the one in the direct works without problems.

As lesswhiny is definitely not the culprit in my game, clearly it's something else.  To avoid spending the next 24 hours removing and adding back hacks, does anyone have any suggestions as to anything that might be similar?  I had Servo turn-up today on another business lot, one I'd never been to before, which I took a Sim to (Le Magnifique: International Restaurant) and again he errored.  This is all Maxis stuff obviously, so it certainly isn't a modified object that's causing the problem, it has to be some sort of global hack.  I am starting to feel sorry for poor Servo now.  Every lot I go to he tries to visit and he keeps having to be sent away.

Well if you list what you have I can scan it and see if anything jumps out. If it's not the please yourself plant, not sure what else it could be.

An easy way to get a list is to go into command line in the directory where you hacks are and type in "dir *.package > hacks.txt" and then it should create a file called hacks.txt that is a list.

I also have the following hacks in my main downloads folder.  The Insim is not yet updated for OFB, but according to Kathy it's OK.  As I use the SIM version, the one most likely to cause problems, there is a possibility that it may be the culprit, although it's never ever caused any kind of problem in my game before.

I am using my insim UV Dest no problem, so i doubt that that is the culprit. I also had this problem, but as many others mine was tied to the lesswhiny hack.

InSim worked fine for me too, it has been OFB updated now (see sig)

it has one slight bug (max all motives for a single sim makes the sim jump or something) that will be getting fixed soon so you may want to wait for the fixed file.

Ancient: Have you tried a test run without hacks just to make sure it isn't a game bug?

I'll look over the list when I get home and try to pick anything out. I don't want people to walk by and see me staring at a long list of stuff when I should be working.

OK, I've found the culprit.  I took out a couple of mods that seemed possible causes - it turned out to be the second one I took out, namely Carrigon_VisitorsLaterHackNL.  As I recall, I started using this because Monique's wasn't working properly with OFB, so I'm going to have to see if she's updated it because I can't stand it when everyone leaves so early, especially the kids and teens.  I can't update Carrigon's because she seems to have disappeared, she's not on the new site that was mentioned in a thread on here, it doesn't exist anymore. 

If anyone has a mod that enables visitors to stay later which works without affecting robots, can you let me know?  Quite why this would affect robots and not ordinary sims I have no idea, but it obviously does.  Why on earth don't error reports mention the mod that's causing the problem?  It would make life so much easier.

Moniques wasn't working for you? It does for me. A little too well as they tend to shower and sleep at my place until I tell them to go, but locked doors seem to fix that problem.
