Owner/Employee carpool weirdness

Mary is the owner of a business. She hired Matt as an employee. They fell in love and he moved into the house with her.  The business is on the same lot as the house.

Next morning, the carpool came for Matt at 8am. Carpool said he works from 9-5. He left and was gone all day.  When he got home, it said he had earned $0.  It also showed him working monday thru friday. I had nothing to do with any of this.

I just assumed he would continue to work in the building next door as a salesman and not leave the property.  The owner had to work all day by herself and on the sign to open the business, I no longer had the option to call employees to work.

All I could think of to do was have him quit his job which was working on his own lot. Has anyone else encountered the carpool coming and taking away your employee?
