Bugger this backwards!

It actually started BEFORE I added University so it is no fault of that expansion pack.
The computer has developed odd glitches in Build mode. .I can no longer build pools or foundations  normally although all other Build mode functions are fine.
When I try to bulid a pool or a foundation the cursor sticks on the grid square adding $00000000. If I persist it WILL actually make a pool or a foundation when the $0000 reaches a "money added" amount but without me having proper control of it.
What gives?

Might be as well to check out one of those Mac Simmers forums, like the one at Simfreaks that someone recommended, and maybe TSR? I haven't heard of that problem on the PC version, anyway... 

Do modern Macs still only have one mouse button? PC users use the left button to select things and the middle & right buttons to scroll around (the middle wheel adjusts camera position and the right button actively moves the cursor). How do you select a whole room (we use SHIFT) or delete things in Build mode (we use CTRL)?

I'm asking all these questions in case they help solve your problem. Of course, if you're just venting, feel free to ignore...

Before I got my new computer, I couldn't build pools if my graphics settings were on high.

Don't know if this is helpful to you.  Just a thought.
