Cell Phone Fix for TS2NL v1.0p1
Made by: Flying Fish Systems (J. M. Pescado)

Congratulations to: Draklixa!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory.

FEATURES:
Cellphones can now be placed back into sim inventories after being removed,
instead of being sometimes able to do this, sometimes not, with no really
apparently obvious pattern.

SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death,
and/or halitosis.

WARNING:
Do not open, crush, dispose of in fire, put in backwards, short-circuit, or mix
with non-awesome hacks - may explode, leak, or catch fire, resulting in injury
and/or death.

I doubt this but does it fix the lot implosion if you save while using a cell phone?  (I'm guessing that's hard coded).

No, the lot implosion is caused by a different effect, and there's no apparent way to prevent it, although I have had results jumpstarting it, depending on what was being called at the time. Causing a reset on the phone call object generally breaks the lockup: If you were using the AutoYak when you last saved, temporarily remove it (causing it to cease existing and break the interaction, forcing reset). If you were using regular Call Sim, override it to force a reset and break it. None of these methods are easy.

Ahh okay i figured it would be hard to prevent.  Just was wondering, i always make sure NOT to save while their being used.  It's by far one of the stupidest and most destructive bugs in the game.

Well, you know Maxis can't get anything right.  They have good ideas sometimes, but they implement them in the stupidest ways.

Causing a reset on the phone call object generally breaks the lockup: If you were using the AutoYak when you last saved, temporarily remove it (causing it to cease existing and break the interaction, forcing reset). If you were using regular Call Sim, override it to force a reset and break it. None of these methods are easy.
I understand removing AutoYak to cause a reset, which doesn't sound difficult, just time consuming waiting for the game to load and such.  But how do you override and force reset regular Call Sim?

The one time I've had this bug the phone was ringing at the time.  So I just figured that I couldn't put it back in the inventory because it was "In Use".  After I hung up though I still couldn't do anything with it but sell it.

This'll be useful though as I often just send one sim to a community lot and make them buy phones for everyone in the family.

I do the same thing.  I've been putting the phones on the floor and having the other sim make a call from it in order to get it to their inventory.  I've also tried to recycle cell phones from sims that are about to die to sims that have just aged to a teen (save a trip to a community lot, I guess).  At least now I can put it in their inventory right away and I won't have to remember where on the floor I put the cell phone.  Those things are tiny!   Tongue
