Multiple Want Locking...

Why is it that I can lock four, yes four, of one of my sims wants? She was a CAS sim, I randomised her skills, upgraded her to a uni sim and made her a townie. She later moved in with my legacy heir. I figured it's something I did in amongst that lot, but I wanted to check it doesn't mean that the game is about to explode into a firey ball visible from outer space?

I advise you to ask Brynne - I saw at her pictures, that she locked too 4 wants.
I think it's some kind of a hack.

As far as I know Sims can only lock 2 wants or 2 fears or 1 of each.

I also think that it must a hack that permits you to have more than 2.

Its a stack of phone books and you can add want/fear locks as well as slots.

I accidentally added extra want locks, but do the extra want locks stick? If so, I'd really love a way to get rid of them. Extra want locks tend to make locking rather unwieldy.

I do nectere, I don't remember hitting anything other than randomise skills when I was making the townies... perhaps I did. Ah well, that's that mystery solved, cheers

You can add more than two want locks with TwoJeff's Personal Electronic tree (no longer available) or college adjuster.  This was an undocumented feature.   You can also do it with InSim.  When TwoJeffs was asked about removing extra want locks back on VS, he at that time did not know of any way to remove them once they had been added.

There's a mirror that adds both want slots (6 max) and locks.

I'd like to be able to remove them, too.  Sometimes I want to add an extra one temporarily to save something important, but as I can't remove it again I usually don't add it.  I had a Sim go to Uni with the wants to reach Level 9 on two of her skills and I knew she would lose one of them, which she did.  It was replaced by a want to do a stupid assignment.  I don't like adding an extra lock to YA's in case it mucks things up when they get it in-game.

I had a Sim turn up with extra want locks after I moved her in downtown via someone else asking her to move in with them. She also had the bug that had her bring along millions of Simoleons when she moved in. I discovered it when I was changing the locks on her wants, she has at least four now. Wish I could get rid of those, too! Why should she have an advantage? *grin*
