Neighborhood Corruption

Ok so... My custom neighborhood borked. Corrupt to a point where all but one family living in it literally disappeared and now the game won't even load with it in it. I have no back up (I kept it on an external my flatmate lost). I am very attatched to the neighborhood, is there any way in hell I could fix it?

Families being raptured up into the heavens is usually a sign of irreversible damage. It would be best to extract what you can with SimPE, and write the first incarnation off as collateral damage.
