All files gone! TS2

Ok, so my old computer crashed some time ago, and I managed to make a copy of everything on it, but now that I've got a new computer I've tried to access the sims folders only to find that all package files are gone. My downloads folder is just empty. Why?

Oops, sorry, I must have been too eager to get help that I missed the other forum!

I would guess that you failed to backup your user saves, and so if you lost them, they're gone forever.
