Origin help?

Installed latest origin, and made account, yet afterwards I get  "An unknown error has occurred, please close origin and try again." .. While, no matter how many times I try, it does not work. I've restarted and everything.
Please help-any solutions to it from this end?

Now that I know what Origin is, I haet it, anyway.  I personally haet all EA downloads on principle.

Uninstall Origin, then set the computer to which it was installed on fire.  It's the only way to be sure.

I know what you mean. I'm not too Amused by Windows 8, either!  So it's pretty useless, I'm feeling....lol

I'm asking cos I got a couple o goodies from here and it tells me I have to install the latest whatevers so I can install-like the farm set and the aurora ones....do I need the darn origin to do those? and what's up with that. Yeah, I'm a dip thus far, but I'm a creative dipslip, eh?
It's unanimous-everyone hates Origin!

By goodies, do you mean CC, or store content? If you mean the latter, there are a few third party tools for extracting store content outside of the launcher, at least one of which is available at MTS. A Google search for a package installer should set you straight. I use the multi-pack extractor personally.

Seriously, unless you have to have it installed for a game that requires it (and as far as I know, The Sims doesn't require it) you should uninstall Orign.

TS3 tells you that if you install Origin and later uninstall it, you'll break the game's ability to patch itself.  I have no idea if this is actually true, because:

A.  I wasn't dumb enough to install Origin in the first place.
B.  I use the MTS Patching Tool, like God intended.

If you would SEARCH you could help your damn self!  Origin is EVIL!  I know what it is you are doing by what you posted.  You got some "goodies" from here and the launcher, also evil, is saying you have to have the latest updates.  Drum roll please, you have to decrap the shit dumbass! This has only been covered like a fucking billion times.  Search, search and I say it again search.  Now go away.
