Sim (un)stuck in space
« on: 2012 March 30, 13:38:06 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I have a sim who is clearly borked, in some way that is beyond my understanding.

The sim in question will not use stairs from ground to foundation, but will instead walk on air/levitate up on it. Sometimes it will levitate up to second floor height and then descend to the foundation. It will also be visible on the non-viewing level (it will be sleeping on air on the second floor, for example, when my viewing level is the first floor, so the bed disappears but the sim doesn't). Right now it is stuck in the back garden with persistent routing failure.

When this started/I first noticed it, I found the sim standing on air outside the window it was looking through. I moveobjects on-lifted it inside. Did that cause the rest of the borkage?

I have the latest patch and the latest AM, all EP:s except OMGPETZ and Showtime. I have tried resetting the sim but it is still stuck, and fixall fixes other stuff but not this. No other mods except Buzz's Same energy gain for all beds and a wooden floor plank directional fix, but the problem persists even with these mods removed. I didn't try without AM.

Has anyone seen this before?

Amusing video clip of sim walking on invisable stairs can be found here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/lolkofi/Video-2.avi (playable in VLC even if browser player fails).

Have you tried force-resetting the sim?

That happens to me sometimes after using the moveobjects cheat to move them from one level to the other. Resetting the sim usually works.

Is that different from resetsim name/name?

When that happened to me(again caused by moving a sim to another level with moveobjects), the fix was to use the Reset Sim command in Twallan's Master Controller(hard reset), because the resetsim [name] cheat didn't help.

Now I use teleport to move sims to a different elevation.

I deleted the sim (per Pescado's orders) after placing the inventory junk in a safe location, then exited to Edit town, switched family and switched back to make the sim regenerate, and it seems to be solved. So far at least!
