ETA: OK Now I am going blind and don't see the spellbook for download anywhere.  Undecided

The spellbook is included in the Gothique Library set, I think.

You forgot to read the instructions, you can't just install them.

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

A bit of a compendium here, so we are all on the same page.

Lady Ravendancer Goth's Book o' Spells will not work (decrapt or as package).

Here http://www.4shared.com/file/LBB3ncvz/spellbookGothique.html

Used it it looks like its missing some scripts. We have to wait until they fix this.

Looked into it its only the german textlist is not finished. English should work.

Here is a fix and your Sim can learn spells.

http://www.4shared.com/file/rH4WLDsp/spellbook_fix.html

When you are learning a spell you get a "Makin Magic" moodlet, which lasts three hours. You can only cast spells when you have that moodlet, so once it runs out, you have to go back to the book of spells and "review spell." There also seems to be more spells than what is listed there because the person who posted on the official forums had his sim learn "Unleash Animale."

Spell options are: Summon, Enchant, Unleash Animale, Summon Acquainted and Mood Elevatus.

Unleash Animale gives a cursed moodlet and makes the cursed Sim scratching himself like he got some fleas. If the spell is not sucsessfull the spellcaster gets the moodlet and the animation.

The spellbook fix doesn't need to be drapped, right?

This thread is fine, and I don't want you to take anything down. I was referring to the thread for downloads that I move the posts to. I was just getting a little confused as to what is directly from the store and what is not.

I might just move the spellbook back here with its fix until there is a fixed one available as a sims3pack. Just to avoid the inevitable bleats. It will slot in the thread at its original time and date though, so it will appear further back.

Thanks for the fix in the meantime Havelock.

ETA: OK Now I am going blind and don't see the spellbook for download anywhere.  Undecided

Okay, I saw Havelock's post, but was not sure what is there.  Edited the post above with the unmodified, Sims3Pack, Book o' Spells.

I am on a iMac and trying to install the Gothique Library set but it keeps telling me I need to update my game but when I try to update my game it says I have the latest version. I'm not sure what to do. Any help could be nice. I may need it in package file format.

Someone needs to start a thread like the "Gee that was great" thread for these questions to be moved to. I wonder how many we'd rack up in a week.

Right. The Spell Book does though.

My separate Spellbook is here in this tread, looks like you moved it back from the Downloads only tread. Its unmodyfied nothing fixed.
All STBL exept English are not fully translated wich gives weird messages if Sims use it.

Does the spellbook work Havelock? In English, at least? Sorry, haven't got the game handy to test myself.

So decrapifying the alter or the fix causes the object to break and any Sim to reset when using it. Doesn't this imply that s3rc needs modification to allow for this issue?

I can also confirm it works fine decrapified as long as you do NOT decrapify the fix. It also appears to work correctly extracted to a non-decrapified package, without the need for a fix.

Could someone who has the set please also post the Gothique Library lot, unmodified? It could be placed in a neighborhood and exported as a Sims3Pack, or even better, it could simply be posted as a Library file so that everyone could install it.  (I believe someone did the latter with the Olympian gym lot; that's how I got it).  I don't decrapify my files and I like to avoid the Launcher where possible, so a library-file version of the lot would be very welcome.

Run the sims3pack through s3rc, then use delphy's extractor to get the package.

I cannot see any reason why this so-called "fix" even works, because all of the files inside are completely identical the original package in every way. I extracted the files from inside the package and md5'ed them, and each file inside compared as identical to the original. Are you sure it was even broken?

Where to grab the latest sims3pack then? Checking the download topic we have immortelleMuse's post (stating hers doesn't work), then panamacrew (who only post packages). That's the only two files containing the phone that you can find in the downloads section.
