Scibirg, you are correct about the directory.  I will edit it as soon as I get home.  Just so happened to cut and paste the wrong directory.  I hope that the info comes in handy and solves any problems you may have.

I figured out my performance problems, it was cc-related, I should have guessed.
Anyway, my game is running great and I am happy!

5.  After base game is installed install each patch, there are a total of 8 patches for BG.  Install them in this order:
Sims3_1.2.7.0000#, sims3_1.3.24.0000#, Sims3_1.4.6.0000#, Sims3_1.6.6.00200#,
Sims3_1.7.9.00200#, Sims3_1.8.25.00300#, Sims3_1.9.22.00400#, Sims3_1.10.6.00400#.

I was just trying out your steps to fixing my issue with my Sims 3 game but I can't seem to find where I can download the patches from I've searched in google but I've only found the latest.
I also went to sims3.com but I can't seem to figure out how to manually download the patches. Maybe I'm just not seeing it. 

Any help?? I miss my sims!
