Can't Update

I'm curious to know if there's any way for Awesomemod to keep my Sims 3 game from updating.  I've tried removing it (by deleting the awesome and aweconfig files), but I still get an error message saying that an "invalid file" was found.
And if it isn't Awesomemod, does anyone know what it might be or how I can fix this problem?

There's no way AwesomeMod, or any .package file, can prevent your game from updating. The updater doesn't even know the mods folder exists. Other people have had problems with the whole "invalid file found" thing, and I suggest you look in "The Horror, The Horror!" section for more info.

How did you try updating it? When I manually downloaded and tried installing the updates I got the same error, but when I used the launcher it worked just fine.
