Minena your house looks realy great.
SalixTree, this is an unusual but lovely house you create. I don't know if I like to play with it in my game, because it's to white in my opinion, but I think you fit the freedom theme the best.
Are the birds in your first picture photoshoped or are these actual downloads?

Pandaah, you can always paint it whatever color you like. If I had my CC in, I would have had a better housepaint choice too.
The birds are photoshopped on my first photo, just for effect. But you can get flying birds as deco objects here:

SalixTree: That house did it for me. It's the first house I've ever downloaded. Now I just have to find a family in my build a city challenge neighborhood who can afford it (poor broke sims).

Fantastic house!
I think I lost my entry. I don't know if it was on my old game or not, since I recently reinstalled, and I have a problem with getting into lots on my main game. All I have are awful pictures with grids showing, and the only front picture I took was with glitched windows.

All right, so here's my entry, on the last possible day! In thinking about the concept of "liberty," mostly in the context of American liberty, I designed a Federal Style residence for your freedom-loving Sims.

Bedrooms:
1 master suite, 1 double bedroom, 1 nursery suite
Bathrooms:
2 full, 2 half

Front Overview
Rear Overview
First Floor:
Foyer, Bathrooms, Living Room, Study, Dining Room, Kitchen

Erry:
I really like the clean, modern lines of your first entry; reminds me of many homes I've seen in the Los Angeles area. I wish you'd have let the tree be "free" though! Your second entry is a perfect suburban complement to the first.
ciane:
Sometimes a light touch is just enough to work wonders. You've done a great job making it into a pleasant house, but that front façade seems a little unbalanced in the overall symmetrical scheme you have.
Sipu von Sapu:
Impressive makeover. Looks like a small Mediterranean mansion. I really like the landscaping - something I never take too much time with.
Faizah:
Cheers on the theme! I love it. And you've managed to make it look convincingly like a castle keep.
horsey:
Very nice design. I like the traditional feel. However, why so much unused space on the second floor? (Is that maybe because of wall warping from the L-stairs to the attic?)
Minena:
A gorgeous house. You've done a fantastic job designing around the original exterior walls - I think the roof really makes an enormous difference.
SalixTree:
Your creative whimsy seemingly knows no bounds. Your house looks poised to take flight!

I like yours, allon_midbar. It reminds me of a house in Pleasantview.
It's August 2nd, shouldn't we choose the next house?
I nominate the small house that comes in Family Fun stuff. Since houses don't need stuff packs when installed with Clean Installer, I could post a version that doesn't need Family Fun.

Pictures?
I believe that you
might
be able to make this house require only Open for Business (the EP before Family Fun), but it would never be base-game compatible.

Just curious, what do you find unbalanced in the front facade?
SalixTree, I love the look and feel of your structure. Those sloping angles and inverted tier design are great. I think the light color really adds to the feeling of freedom.

The very front wall has a door with one window on either side on the first floor, but only one centrally placed window on the second floor.
simsrocks, glad you like my entry. I don't have the Family Fun SP. Do you have a photo of the house you're thinking of?

There would appear to be 3 different houses which shipped with Family Fun Stuff:
Visionary Villa: $70,615, 4x3 lot, 3+ bedrooms, 2.5 baths
Haute Habitation: $24,498, 3x3 lot, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths
Cozy Co-Op: $13,410, 2x2 lot, 1 bedroom, 1 bath
simsrocks, were you thinking about the Cozy Co-Op?
I'll run some experiments to see what we can get as the minimal EP-requirement.

Yes, the Cozy Co-op. I don't like the way that one is layed out. The Haute Habitation needs a bit of work to it, but nothing major. The Visionary Villa has a nice layout, and is well suited to a legacy, but is ugly from the outside.

The best way to make this lot maximally compatible is to rebuild it from scratch using the base game via the AnyGameStarter. People have done this for previous months and it has worked well. This especially makes sense for such a simple floor plan.

Is anyone going to build this in Base game? I'll do it tommorro morning if no-one has done it by then. Looks like a fun house to re-do, nice and ugly.

It cleans up well though, I converted it into a lovely three bedroom two bathroom home.
Maybe one of the rules could be not moving the patio.

I'd gladly do it myself although I may not have time until the weekend.

I've done it already.
Couldn't make out a thing or two, so I did the best I could. Someone can start up a new thread? Too tired to think. I can do it in the morning if it's not done.
I should be asleep...

OK, I know I am late with posting these. I just got DSL back though and it was too hard to upload anything with the snail pace of AOL dial-up. I truthfully had my remodels finished around the middle of July though. This one has three versions; one with a huge amount of CC, one with a fair amount of CC, and one with only a small amount of CC. All the pictures are of the Maximum CC version which to be perfectly honest is pretty muc unplayable even with RAM out the yinyang. It is just too slow to play, but I liked my "landscaping" and other embellishments for it. The medium CC one plays much better but the minimum CC one is obviously going to be the most playable. I kept the Menaceman light fix and Numenor's Carina light stairs and maybe a few recolors is all.

I am adding my second remake to this same post. It is a "Family Business" with their living quarters/Apartment above it. Yes I know Apartments did not allow this (big disappointment) but by re-zoning to Community to install the "Business" then back to Residential and finally to Apartments I got a functioning business as well as an apartment. Placing the apartment entrance as I have done at least gives the illusion of a family owned business. And yes, to get the proper effect I wanted, I had to use quite a bit of CC. In test play however, the lot played well at a good speed.
