THANKS THIS IS GREAT

130 Sim Lane, chosen because I had already uploaded the pictures for the lot Cheesy

Rules, copy-pasta'd from last month:

1. No CC.  Please indicate needed expansions and stuff packs so people who wish to download your lot know what to expect.  Pictures are required, either available for download, on a slideshow, or posted in this thread.

2. By entering this challenge, you agree to take constructive criticism.  If you wish to judge someone else's entry, you should be respectful but honest.

3. Your lot does not have to be Awesomespec, although it is encouraged.

4. You may move internal walls and add external walls but you may NOT move original external walls.

5. Lots may be furnished, unfurnished, or partially furnished.  You can even upload both furnished and unfurnished versions.

*PLEASE NOTE* Since this is an Eaxis-designed lot, it may or may not have level edges.  Place at your own risk.

New for this lot:

1. The decking at the back of the lot must remain as-is.

2. The fireplace must remain although it can be moved elsewhere on the lot.

*Warning* This lot has non-level edges. Place at your own risk. (Sorry, I've tried to flatten the lot but it just won't work for me in Base-Game only config. If anyone can make one, I'll add it to this post)

Download 130 Sim Lane

Thanks to Mootilda for a flat version of this lot, available here. Any stairs that have been removed from the back decking must be replaced. Cheers, Mootilda, for fixing the back decking Grin

Ha, I've got a family living in this house at the moment... It was surprising how much more bearable it became when I replaced the stairs with a spiral staircase, though the terrain is a bit hellish.  I might give this one a shot if work permits.

Here's the flattened base-game-compatible lot.  Here's what I did:

1) Run the base game starter to create a base-game-compatible version of the maxis-made lot.
2) Run the LotAdjuster to flatten the edges.
3) Use CFE to flatten the rest of the lot.
4) Run dbpf-recompress to re-compress lot.
5) Remove most of the jpgs to reduce the size of the lot package.

Note that I had to remove some of the outside stairs for the flat lot.

[Update:]
Restored the 2-tier back deck and stairs.

[Another update:]
Sorry... looks like the deck had a slight slant.  Fixed.

Yecats, no, just [keep] the back decking.

When the lot is flattened, the 2 decks at the back end up at the same level.  So, a flattened lot won't have a 2-tier deck out back...  What's the verdict on this?

If you'd like, I believe that I could create a flattened lot where the main foundation is twice the height of a normal foundation.  I believe that this would be a fairly simple way to maintain the 2-tier deck at the back and the 2-level stairs at the front.  Shall I try?

[Update:]
Done.  Uploaded the link above.

Okay I have an entry. This is my first post ever on here so be kind.Please...

I can't upload my lot as it is too big to attach. Is it possible to decrease the file size?
Baaaaa! Mootilda, I just up loaded it to MediaFire in the end:

New Link To 130Sim Lane: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?inwzz4xedlx
Thanks for pointing that out chobeegal, I think I just renamed it wrong but I think I fixed it.
1 Bedroom
1 Bath
Downstairs Open Plan
Furnished
I did change the deck at the back but all I did was level it and got rid of the middle steps.
Uses Emma's Lot version so not sure on the flatness of the edges. It almost became an Emma Challenge house as the bathroom was a last minute add-on, hence the small size and privacy issues. Roll Eyes

I fixed my upload so that it maintains the 2-tier deck and stairs by raising the foundation to double-height.

If you are one of the 10 people who was too quick and downloaded my "flatten" version, you might want to download the new version instead... sorry.  Alternatively, you could just use CFE (as I did) to raise the main foundation of the house and restore the 2-tier decking.

I can't upload my lot as it is too big to attach. Is it possible to decrease the file size?

Some easy things that you can do to decrease the lot size:
- Use 7Zip at Ultra compression
- Use SimPE to remove all of the entries under "jpg/tga/png Image (IMG)", except for the main image (instance ends in "2").  None of these images are actually required, and the game will regenerate them.  I can give you better instructions if you need them.
- Use the compressor:

Ditto!  I remember having to do an emergency expansion of the top floor because of unexpected twins.  It was only my second birth ever and I hadn't even realized they could *have* twins...

Does the decking have to stay entirely as is, or are we allowed to change the type of stairs, railing, type of flooring?

You can change the stairs, flooring and fence. Stairs must stay in the exact same position though.

Mootilda, thanks for fixing the elevation so the decking stays the same Grin

Right! I'm going to make mine.

Awww I loved that house...

*runs off to fix it up*

EDIT:

YES. There is CC... You know me, can't live without my build mode stuff. Cheesy It's mostly stuff that I assume most people already have so... Smiley

CC:
Outside walls by Zhaana
Windows & Doors by Marylou
Inside Walls by Nephilis1
White Fence by Holy Simoly
Shrubby Shrub by HystericalParoxysm

See? Not too much. Smiley

I stuck to the rules, it's not awesomespec but mine usually aren't.
Four bedrooms as I added a master on the main floor, two & a half baths. Added detached garage. Enjoy!

Did I mention that I heart this house? Cheesy

I'm reading a book with short stories with a post-apocalyptic theme and was inspired to re-do this house as it might look after the world has ended. A couple of survivors have occupied it and is making it their own, though it is still pretty decayed. The new residents have also added some new parts to the house.

The house comes furnished. It will house six sims at least. There's a driveway and a carport and a vegetable patch. It's almost awesomespec, and is easy to make fully awesomespeced. Lot price is §45 064, magic wanded.

I kept the original outer walls in brick, and used some sort of corrugated steel for the new outer walls to stick to the theme of some parts of the house being built post apocalypse: that is also why there are two types of foundations and rooves. I couldn't keep it CC-free, but most of my CC is recolors, and all of it is included in the package. There is also a non-CC version, though that won't be complete.

List of CC (yes, I packaged the phone-line controller. D'oh)

Outdoors:

Upstairs barracks:

Downstairs:

Detail interior pics - kitchen and dining area:

Living room:

Annan, that's very imaginative.  I'm downloading it for my non-challenge apocalypse hood.  I love what you did with the steel walls, and the general layout.  Very nice.

Thanks! The house strikes me as Craftsman so that was the theme that I went with. Cheesy

My first self sim family ever lived in that house for about 4 generations before moving on to bigger pastures (in the days when I had like 10 kids to a family).

Here's my remodel of 130.  It's not changed much.  The front porch was embiggened a little and a detached single car garage was added.

Notice the second story windows that open onto the gently sloping roof.  Your teens will love it!

Some of the back decking was enclosed to make a sunroom/hobby lobby.

On the upper floor there are three bedrooms, a bath and a wee half bath.  There's space in each bedroom for a closet to go if you're so inclined.

Downstairs we have a large living area, a smallish kitchen, a third bathroom and a small study/'nother hobby area.  As you can see, the living room opens into the aforementioned sunroom.

It can be found (unfurnished) at the Exchange or in your game for the whopping price of $32,134.  Download it today!

Oh yes, and I have all expansion packs plus Glamor, Celebration, Kitchen & Bath and Ikea stuffs.

That front porch roof looks dangerous... Cheesy Cute though. A little criticism that I have had thrown at me, you are supposed to keep the external walls and it looks like when you extended things, you took some external walls out.
