EAxis seems to continue with mistakes, now is BV and AL fireplaces. Take a look.

AL fireplace doesn't match, and BV has nothing! Is there a way to fix it Huh ?

It may not be any help, since I can't get in game to try it at the moment, but the first two things I notice:

1) the one that doesn't match I think has the default foundation brick siding on the bottom. Did you try treating it like a foundation and painting a wall on it? there might be a matching wall in there somewhere.

2) along that same line of thought, did you try putting some foundation under the empty one, and if it'll go, you can put matching rocks on it. Smiley

The BV fireplace has been bothering me forever, but I keep forgetting to look for a fix for it. I think you can't put a foundation under it, even with move_objects on? I'd like to see this fixed too as I love the fireplace, but can never use it because of that missing piece.

Place the foundation, then place the fireplace.

Emma, your idea won't really work, as the foundation is bigger than the fireplace, so it wouldn't look right. Mind you, it'd look less wrong than the original. Would there be anyway of getting the AL fireplace's foundation underneath the BV firplace?

I think there are several things to consider here:
1) This game was made/released by EA - we no longer expect everything to be perfect, or even sensible.
2) A foundation may not look right, but it avoids the gap issue.  These fireplaces were probably designed (since it was for BV) with foundationless log cabins in mind.  Hence, no foundation.  If you put a foundation under them, you can always put shrubberies (insert sound here) around them to disguise the look.  I have, myself done this ("with a little path running down the middle for that two level effect...")
3) It's from EA!
4) Go Emma!

Oh this has been bugging me for awhile. Yeah you can put a foundation, but it doesn't look right at all. The AL fireplace is just a typical example of what happens when EAxis thinks they are being CLEVЯ and "try" to get something right.

I hate mentioning this idea *shudders*but there is another option. Copy EAxis and build a foundation, place the firplace, build walls on the foudation and totally hide the original fireplace. Goodness knows why this doesn't cause a fire when you light the fireplace though. I can't stand using this idea, but it does at least give you a recolourable fireplace. And Emma, please don't sharpen your spork, *meows quietly while moving tail from side to side* after all, I think the RSPCA might object to you attacking cats.

Another available option is to get rid of the chimney entirely.  With moveobjects on, use the sledgehammer tool to delete each section.  As a bonus, this frees up the 2 tiles behind the fireplace, allowing you to place other objects (like staircases) directly against the back of it without cheats.  If you like the look of a chimney rising above the roof, just don't sledgehammer that bit.

You'll also be able to use a diagonal 2-tile fireplace if you angle it before hammering the chimney.  If you move the fireplace, however, be aware that the chimney will return.  I recommend using the hammer after it's in its permanent position.

This is excellent advice! I hate the chimneys, they spoil the look of the houses. Cheers! Grin

That's great especially in those houses/apartments where you want a fireplace but don't want to have to build around whacking great chimneys in the upstairs rooms.  I am, indeed, glad I thought of that.
