a)unlike the mesh creator who likely has a sense of humour, this one seems to really think this stuff  is good on dudes,

I think you're attributing a comment by an avid fan of the items to the creator. Plus it fits a niche. This would really work for a Captain Shakespeare sim.

The only mesh there is here is the shoe mesh with a nude mesh so you can use the shoes in milkshape, so the mesh isn't bad at all.

It's the um-- disturbing yet well-done textures that made you enter it. Good for those of us who needed another dunk in the eye bleach, but that's about all.

To be fair, some girls do develop pretty early, especially when you consider that the "child" stage seems to last from about age six to age twelve.  I think it's the wasp waists that make those clothes really disturbing.

I don't think the Grizzelda mesh is that bad, figure-wise...she's not voluptuous, she just has a little bit of a waist, which some girls do.  I think some child meshes are actually a little too shapeless, in fact.

The texture and the shoes, otoh, suck ass.  And the skirt is too short for a little girl.

Hand-swallowing is pretty much inevitable with a certain type of skirt - specifically, most period dresses. Not saying that all of these are period dresses, but I'm not sure that it can be held against that child's long skirt, which probably is intended for a period mesh.

On the other hand, the palm-fronds dress is weird, and WTF is with that 'alien' dress?

Oh, I agree that many of the Parsimonious meshes look good in-game, especially with nice textures, but the hand-swallowing could become problematic for picture-taking and such, and that's why I included those particular meshes in my post. The frond and alien dresses are just weird, though (the meshes, that is). There's a reason why Maxis dress meshes are always skin-tight.

I wasn't necessarily making fun of the dresses, themselves, when I posted them. It was the wonky meshes (most of which were not made by Parsimonious) that I complained about. Parsimonious generally does a good job, even on their meshes, but the hand-swallowing is a particular peeve of mine, so I tend to NOT use outfits that are very voluminous.
