Isn't Very Personal Is It...

I'm really hoping someone can assist me with this problem.... I brought this up before but there still is no solution, it makes no sense that the attached neighborhood colleges generates over 100 professors to me 50+ majors when in the past when I played my single neighborhood with the same amount of majors, I only got around 40 professors. Granted thats more professors than you get with maxis professors only, but, It's still the same amount of majors, more colleges less professors. This indicates that the game is not generating 2 professors per major, but that the ratio is professors to neighborhood, the amount of professers that generated in my game is related to the 4 attached neighborhoods not the majors. I have Pescado's antiredundancy and no townieregen and the cleaned up uni template... Can anyone tell me what would cause this to happen, and/or tell me how to fix it... I did once run two uni campuses, and had no problem with extra professors or dormies being generated, the only problem being that when I decided to delete the extra campus the Maxis playables appeared on the original campus as unlinked walkbys. In my opinion, your problem has to be linked to the number of majors you are running, which seems a tremendous number!

This has only been happening since ofb or pets... not sure which
I've had these majors for awhile, and it never created new prof's till ofb or pets...
It also didn't create new prof's if I added a major or 5... only now is it doing that.
EDIT: Can any hackers look into this?... maybe find a solution so it doesn't make 2 prof's per custom major.... any help would be appreciated

Then if it is a new problem there is a huge chance those custom majors are no longer compatible with the latest ep you have install. Look around on the site you got them, do some search and you will know.
You should greatly consider removing them or cry for help to the makers instead of asking for a fix here.
Anti-redudancy does the job with the normal majors coming with the game. Weither it works with non-awesome cc major or not is none of Pescado concerns.
ETA: Change the word career to major, eventhough I clearly said major later.

First of all, they are Majors, not careers, they require University so they are ep ready which means they work with all eps... uni and up...
This is a game issue of some kind... I cannot be the only person to have this issue, and its not like I twisted anyones arm demanding a hack I simply was asking if it could be done, no reason to get all pissy...
I am not crying to anyone I am trying to find a solution because I like custom majors... all my majors match my careers...
When I add new careers the game does not make new drivers or any other NPC related to the jobs... it's only Professors being generated with each major that I add.

Have you installed BV, because if so it might be related to all the problems other people were having with NPCs.

This has only been happening since ofb or pets... not sure which The problem has been there since OFB or Pets was intall as the poster said, I doubt BV have any part in this. Did you recently reinstall SarakMK merged hood? Maybe the problem is in the way you install it, maybe it got corrupted somehow. Did you try to make a new cc hood recently with all the new eps in to see if it is happening there too?

Sorry, Missdoh, I missed that, although I did glance back to check for Seasons. I agree with you it seems the answer is to load up a new, normal hood with all those majors installed, and then check with SimPe to see how many Prof have been created - I think they normally get created immediately you load a uni campus. If everything there is fine, just the normal amount of NPCs, I think, Rich, you should contact SaraMK and ask her whether what is happening to you is normal with the merged hoods. It might also be worth doing the same thing with a vanilla install of the merged template, just to see how many Professors come attached to the merged template itself.

I think they normally get created immediately you load a uni campus Indeed, I think the game is scheduled to create them around 10am. Anti-redudancy should be in all time during the test to see how it is affecting one hood and possibly not the merge one. And you could also try with and without the cc majors. ETA: fixed typos.

That's what I meant by a vanilla game - you need to know how many Professors are created by the merged hoods, whether it's the normal amount or many more.

I just finnished doing what you guys before coming back to read it ... It generated 24 professors without custom majors and 84 with custom majors 2 per custom major. It seems to be added 2 per custom major, but I'm sure it didn't do that before OFB, I married or moved in a bunch of them... before OFB/pets I had around 38-40 *still with all my majors*... So pretty much tried everything to get this straightened out... Rich

Then it looks like whenever there is a new major added the game is set to add 2 new professors because they are needed like for all the regular majors. Even with anti-redudancy the game still creates 2 for each majors because they are needed by the game.
I guess if you want less of them, you will have to remove some of your cc majors before you create a new hood and not add them back.

the game doesn't NEED them thats just maxis design... I ban them anyway... I like to play them, but I don't use them for the majors.... I just don't want my game to have 100 prof's...
the question is, is this hard coded into the game or is it hackable... and something that can be modded, since obviously it decided that it wants 2 profs per major.

If it could have been limited to 1 per major or maybe just 1 professor only, anti-redudancy would have already be done this way. Pescado already answered in the anti-redudancy post that the game NEED 2 professors to be created per major, no way around it so far or he would have changed it. Unless he did not check to see if the codes were altered or changed in any way since Uni, I doubt there is any way to do this or it would be done already.

It's possible that this is an EAxian "feature" which they introduced with a later EP. It's the sort of thing they would do, force extra character files on us.

And don't they just love to do that! It would make far more sense if the number of professors was determined by the number of students, as it would be in RL!
Missdoh, a "vanilla" game is one with no custom content of any kind.
